Future Chelsea midfielder Geovany Quenda has suffered a foot injury that will sideline him for the rest of the 2025 season.
The 19-year-old is having another strong year on an individual level, with this season being his final one before joining Stamford Bridge permanently.
Quenda has been involved in 13 goals so far this term, making a real impact in the Champions League for Sporting in particular.
Chelsea fans have every reason to be excited about another young talent following Estevao Willian’s arrival, though Quenda’s injury is expected to slow his progress for now.

Geovany Quenda sidelined after suffering foot fracture
As reported by Record Portugal, the Portuguese winger has sustained a foot fracture, which will keep him out of action for a significant period.
The injury comes at an important stage of the season for Sporting. He’s expected to miss up to two months of football.
They currently sit second in the league, five points behind Porto, and will also be looking to build on an impressive start in the Champions League. They are currently eighth in the table, on the same amount of points as Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Sporting face a challenging task against Bayern Munich without Quenda in their squad.
Quenda set to add depth to Chelsea’s flanks
Geovany Quenda is expected to be part of the first-team squad when he joins, with no plans for another loan spell. He’ll head straight into Enzo Maresca’s group.
Chelsea have already started shifting Estevao Willian into a central playmaker role, which could make it easier for Quenda to find space in the side. There’s already talk about how his skill set might fit well with what Maresca needs on the wings.
Maresca has also noticed Quenda playing more frequently on the left side recently, which aligns well with areas where Chelsea could use additional depth.
On that side, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens are sharing minutes, while Estevao and Pedro Neto cover duties on the opposite flank. Quenda’s arrival should provide additional options across both positions.
