The Liverpool midfielder has begun to grow into the role of Liverpool captain.

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has praised Jordan Henderson’s leadership qualities while speaking to the Liverpool Echo.
The midfielder was named as Liverpool captain at the beginning of last season after club legend Steven Gerrard left to join La Galaxy in the MLS.
He has often struggled to live up to the role largely because of the large shadow left behind by Gerrard.
Since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at the club, though, Henderson has started to grow into the armband.

This week saw him playing a leading role in the impressive 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and following that game Wijnaldum has praised his captain’s leadership qualities.
“Jordan is a good captain,” he told the Liverpool ECHO.
“He’s always trying to help everyone. He speaks with players and gets them to keep their focus. He leads by example and he’s a good leader for this team.”

Liverpool now sit in fifth place in the table with 10 points from their five games so far.
It has been a decent start for Klopp’s team, who many believe could be challenging for a top four place or better this season.
If it that is to happen they will need their captain in good form to help them maintain their winning form, starting with their clash against Hull City at Anfield next weekend.
