Burnley boss Sean Dyche has told the Burnley Express that he felt he saw flashes of quality from new signing Georges-Kevin Nkoudou against Crystal Palace.

The Clarets slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Palace on Saturday afternoon, as Bakary Sako’s winning goal condemned Dyche’s men to a third defeat in the last five Premier League games.

Burnley will be hoping that this minor blip doesn’t turn into a slump, and Dyche may still be looking to bring in new faces after making one new signing last week.

Burnley swooped to land Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou on loan until the end of the season, handing the Frenchman a chance to play first-team football at Turf Moor.

Nkoudou, 22, hasn’t even started a single Premier League game for Spurs since his summer 2016 move from Marseille, and desperately needed playing time.

The wide man started his Burnley career on the bench at Palace, but came on as a substitute for Jeff Hendrick after 63 minutes, meaning he got a 30-minute cameo at Selhurst Park.

Nkoudou couldn’t help Burnley get back into the game, but he seemingly did enough to impress manager Dyche, which will be promising for Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino.

Dyche has told the Burnley Express that he saw ‘flashes’ from Nkoudou, and believes there is more to come from the winger once he figures out how Burnley play.

“There were flashes of encouragement, definitely,” said Dyche. “He has to learn how we operate obviously, he hasn’t played a lot of football and he’s only been with us a couple of days. I think he’ll add to that the more he gets used to us and what we’re about, but there were certainly flashes.”

“At the end he broke through and nearly found the pass which makes the difference, the one for Johann when he nearly has a chance and it just goes behind him as he breaks down the line. There were little moments but I think there’s more to come. That’s why we brought him. He’s got to grow, it takes time for them to adapt with what we do, not just him but all players,” he added.
