Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 2-0 FA Cup win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur beat Aston Villa 2-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon to advance into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Having beaten Chelsea 2-0 on Wednesday to make it five Premier League wins in a row, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were looking for cup success against Championship side Villa.
Pochettino’s rotated side featured a number of fringe players, but they largely wasted their chance to shine as Spurs failed to break down Villa in the opening 70 minutes of the game.

Left back Ben Davies then popped up to head home Georges-Kevin Nkoudou’s cross on 71 minutes, with the Welshman scoring his first goal for the club since signing from Swansea City in 2014.
Spurs sealed the win when Heung-min Son stroked home Moussa Sissoko’s pull back to make it 2-0, handing Tottenham a passage into the fourth round of the competition – something that will delight Pochettino.

Spurs lost to Crystal Palace in the fifth round of last year’s FA Cup, and will be hoping to go further this year, with Sunday’s win over Villa a good start.
After the final whistle, Spurs players took to Twitter to send messages to fans, with defenders Eric Dier and Kevin Wimmer celebrating a win, whilst Davies admitted he had been looking forward to scoring his first goal for the club.
Elsewhere, Harry Winks was pleased with a ‘great result’, whilst winger Nkoudou was delighted with his ‘instant impact’ as a substitute, admitting that the assist for the opening goal was a major confidence boost for him.
