Tottenham Hotspur are no strangers to signing players from Ligue 1; unfortunately the moves have not always been succesful.

In recent times Tottenham have signed Benjamin Stambouli, Etienne Capoue and Clinton N’Jie from the French top flight and all three flattered to deceive at White Hart Lane.

Capoue has gone on to excel at Watford, while N’Jie’s brief spell in North London has ended with a loan return to the league where he made his name. After a year at Paris Saint-Germain, Stambouli is now struggling to make a mark at Schalke.

Not all Tottenham’s recent business with Ligue 1 clubs has been disappointing, with Hugo Lloris moving from Lyon in 2012 and proving to be one of the smartest signings in their history. But in the last few years it is fair to see there have been more hits than misses.

That could be about to change, with Georges-Kevin N’Koudou already showing in four cameo appearances that he has the confidence, the drive and the innate talent to be a success at Tottenham.

Stambouli never settled into the English game while Capoue struggled with injuries in his first season and fell out of favour in his second.

N’Jie may still prove the doubters wrong; however there is no doubt N’Koudou has settled better than all three and looks set to excite Tottenham fans for years to come, potentially ending the Ligue 1 curse that has recently affected Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
