Leicester City may have lacked consistency at senior level of late, but their U23 side produced an excellent performance last night as they thrashed their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts 6-1 at Holmes Park.

In contention for the Premier League 2 title, Leicester are currently in second place in the table and are currently two points adrift of leaders Liverpool having played a game more.

Forward George Thomas was amongst the most impressive performers for Leicester last night as he hit a brace against a Tottenham side that was reduced to nine men following the dismissals of Oliver Skipp and Josh Gordon.

Thomas produced a fine display as he took his tally for the season at U23 level to six goals and he will hope to now edge closer to making a first-team breakthrough.

Tottenham had actually taken the lead through Keanan Bennetts, but Leicester assumed control of the game thereafter, with Sam Hughes equalising before the Foxes came close to taking the lead on several occasions.

Thomas then got his first goal of the game, with Darnell Johnson also getting on the scoresheet and Josh Gordon scoring twice.

There was still time for Thomas to add to his tally as he rounded off an emphatic victory.
