The Sheffield Wednesday talent has been frozen out over a contract dispute at the Yorkshire club.

Leeds United’s under-23s are in action today, taking on Sheffield Wednesday. One man who will feature in the game for Leeds’ opponents should be of particular interest to the Whites.
George Hirst is set to make his comeback for Wednesday, after being frozen out by the club all season because of a contractual dispute.
With that in mind, Leeds should keep an eye on his performance, and definitely consider signing him in the summer.
Hirst has been linked with Leeds before.

Last year, Sheffield Wednesday chairman Depjohn Chansiri confirmed to Owlstalk that Hirst is expected to leave in the summer having refused to sign a new contract, admitting that Wednesday turned down bids from Premier League clubs and even one ‘local Championship club’ before the season started.
The Daily Mail then claimed that Leeds remain interested in signing Hirst after a failed approach.
Hirst, the son of former Wednesday hero David Hirst, is attracting interest with good reason.
He is considered one of England’s finest striking talents. He has scored goals galore up to under-20 level and helped them win the Toulon Tournament last summer.

With his contract coming to an end in the summer the 19-year-old will seemingly be free to make a move anywhere he likes in the next few months. Whilst compensation will be due to the Owls, it would be a worthy fee for a player of such talent.
Leeds have an opportunity today to see if he has still got the ability to thrive, as he makes his comeback at Thorp Arch. Come the summer, they should make it his permanent home.
