Former Arsenal manager George Graham is backing his old side to react to a difficult start to the season.

Former Arsenal manager George Graham told talkSPORT he’s backing his old side to recover after a difficult start to the season.

Arsenal fell to defeat on the opening day of the season against West Ham, but Graham wants the Gunners to focus on going on a run, which will now put them into a great position in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners need to quickly learn what went wrong against the Hammers and put that right in the match with Crystal Palace this weekend.

“I’d like to think it’s just a blip because if they can go on a run and be undefeated, they can really climb into the top two or three positions and then be a threat again – There’s no reason why they still can’t (win the Premier League),” he told talkSPORT.

Momentum is vital

Arsenal showed how important momentum can be for them towards the end of last season and into pre-season.

When they are in good form, with a side full of confidence, it’s very difficult for any side to get the better of them.

Manager Arsene Wenger would never admit to his side being a bit complacent against the Hammers but they did invite a great deal of pressure onto themselves against a team that looked sharp and determined to have an impact.

The Premier League title race is arguably more achievable this season for Arsenal than it has been in the past ten seasons, but they need to try and correct things quickly, avoiding making life instantly more difficult for themselves.
