Rangers defender Connor Goldson endured a tricky Old Firm derby.
Rangers defender George Edmundson has told the Daily Record that fellow centre back Connor Goldson is ‘ready to go again’ after his Old Firm mistake.
The Gers hosted Celtic in the first Old Firm derby of the season before the international break, and were hoping to lay down a real marker in the title race.
However, Steven Gerrard’s men fell flat, with Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes scoring to hand Celtic a 2-0 victory at Ibrox.
A number of players endured difficult games for Rangers, and one of those was centre back Goldson, who will want to forget his performance.
Goldson gave the ball away inside his own half for Edouard’s goal, and looked generally uneasy throughout alongside Nikola Katic in the Rangers back line.
Fans took to Twitter after the game to slate Goldson’s performance, suggesting that he should be taken out of the side in favour of summer signings Filip Helander or Edmundson.
Now, former Oldham Athletic ace Edmundson has given his view on Goldson’s mindset since his Old Firm showing, suggesting that he is ‘fine’ and ready to go again having learned from his mistake, with Edmundson seemingly not too hopeful of being brought in to replace him against Livingston this weekend.
“Connor’s fine. He’s ready to go again,” said Edmundson. “You are not going to go a full season and not make a mistake. He has learned from it and he will move onto the next game,” he added.
