West Ham legend Hurst was full or praise for Spurs boss Pochettino.
West Ham United legend Sir Geoff Hurst has applauded the work done by Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino in an interview with the Daily Star, and compared him to a former Hammers manager.
Pochettino has made Tottenham an established top-four Premier League side since joining the club from Southampton, finishing third in the Premier League table last time around and reaching the quarter finals of the Champions League.
The Argentine boss has got the best out of the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen, as well as orchestrating Dele Alli’s progression from potential ace to consistent superstar.
Despite his loyalties to West Ham, Hurst applauded the Hammers’ bitter rivals manager Pochettino for his work done and compared the ex-Espanyol boss to Ron Greenwood, who coached Hurst at West Ham.
“Pochettino has been very instrumental [On Kane’s developement],” Hurst said. “I go back to my time, I was very fortunate at club level to have Greenwood. West Ham had three players playing for England in 1966 and Pochettino has five.”
Hurst was speaking ahead of England’s first game at the World Cup in Russia, with The Three Lions preparing to face Tunisia in Group G on Monday, while Belgium face Panama.
All five Spurs stars could start the match, with Kane, Alli and Kieran Trippier expected to make the 11. However, Gareth Southgate must decide whether he will start Danny Rose and Eric Dier, as Ashley Young and Jordan Henderson rival the Spurs duo for their places.
England then face Panam six days later on June 24, before going toe to toe with Belgium on the 28th.
