Leeds United fans on Twitter have reacted to Marcelo Bielsa’s claim that it’s unlikely they will dip into the market for a new player.
It hasn’t been a busy summer transfer window for Leeds, with perhaps their standout purchase being Junior Firpo, who arrived from debt-ridden Barcelona.
Whilst those in Catalonia struggle to keep their financial boat afloat. Will Leeds be dipping into the water for more talent?
Well, Bielsa told Leeds Live that “it’s not probably anymore signings will be made.” and that he is “happy with the players he can count on.”
He also added: ” As long as the new player can challenge the existing option. New player has to compete with what we have. High cost to this.
“There’s disappointment if we bring players in below the standard. Have to find players who overcome the players we have, but at a low price. Low price means a high price.”
Leeds supporters aren’t liking what they are hearing and there is a worry that they are slightly thin across certain areas of the pitch.
It doesn’t help when you lose your opening game of the new Premier League season.
And that to your bitter rivals, who after putting six past you last season, ended up scoring five at the weekend.
But it needs to be remembered that Bielsa likes to work with a small squad as it is, so he’s not someone who will bring in numbers for the sake of depth.
However, as that performance at Old Trafford proved, Leeds need another option for Kalvin Phillips.
If he were to get injured then it could have a serious effect on the team, its balance and its defence.
Weeks still remain until the transfer window slams shut, so anything can happen yet.
And, at the end of the day, it’s about bringing the right players in and if Bielsa is happy then all should be well.
