Speaking on his Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing the Everton fans and what they were doing at Anfield at the weekend.

The Merseyside Derby was, as always, one of the most interesting and fiery games of the season, and while Everton didn’t put up much of a fight on the pitch, the fans made sure their voices were heard.

Indeed, the away fans were in full voice this weekend, and Ian Wright found the support from the away end rather intriguing, stating that Everton were trying to take Liverpool’s home advantage away from them by frustrating them on the pitch, and winning the battle in the stands by outsinging the Reds.

Wright spoke about Everton’s efforts to frustrate the Liverpool fans.

“Richarlison, that’s his game he was going down and frustrating them, whether Frank told him to do it more or if he told Pickford to continually fall down and take his time just to wind them up” Wright said.

“It was really interesting because at one stage Everton fans were singing ‘where’s your famous atmosphere?’ I think that was something they were genuinely trying to do, they were trying to take everything away from that Liverpool atmosphere,” Wright said.

The 12^th man

It’s the ultimate cliché that the fans are often the 12^th man on a football team, but with a club like Everton in this situation, it’s true.

The Toffees, quite simply, aren’t doing the business on the pitch at the moment, and they need all the support they can get from the crowd in order to get themselves psyched up for these crunch matches.
