Speaking to talkSPORT’s Gameday podcast, Theo Walcott has named the best player he ever played with at Arsenal.

Walcott played with some unbelievable players during his time at the Emirates such as Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez, but he believes Robin van Persie was the best player he played alongside for the Gunners.

“I spoke to someone about this the other day actually, and debated a couple, bit it would have to be Robin (van Persie).

“For me, Robin Van Persie was the best finisher I’ve ever seen, genuinely better than Thierry Henry, better than anyone I’ve seen because he genuinely made it look so easy.

“He always knew he was going to get it on that left foot and he made my job so easy, he really did because I’d do something, give it to him, and you knew he was going to score for you.

“That was the way he was, genuinely that few seasons where he was really going for that Golden Boot and he would go for it, and he was an absolute dream to play with, that left-foot was incredible, and I don’t think there’s ever going to be a player like him ever again.”

This is a big shout from Walcott.

Of course, Walcott didn’t have the pleasure of playing with Henry in his pomp, and you would probably find it very hard to find any Arsenal fan who thinks van Persie was better than Henry, especially after his departure to Manchester United.

However, we can’t really argue with Walcott’s view.

In terms of the time Walcott spent at Arsenal, you’d have to say that van Persie was the most impressive player during that period, even if other players Walcott played with have left a stronger long-term legacy.
