Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter in anger after spotting Roy Hodgson smiling after full-time in the humiliating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The former England boss was seen with a big grin on his face as he bumped fists with Jurgen Klopp following the final whistle.
Of course, the two managers are fellow professionals, and Hodgson is hardly going to be visibly raging with anger in front of Klopp.
The 73-year-old just isn’t that type of manager, not anymore at least.
Who knows? Maybe Hodgson was livid with the display, and let rip once he and his players made their way back into the Selhurst Park dressing rooms.
Just because he smiled – probably out of embarrassment or sheepishness – in front of the former Borussia Dortmund boss, doesn’t mean he’s happy with what he saw from his players.
If the ex-West Brom manager was happy with that display, then the Eagles supporters would have every right to be concerned.
As WhoScored shows, Crystal Palace’s display on their own turf was unacceptable.
The south Londoners had just 34.6% of possession, and managed to have only three shots on target against the Merseysiders.
Crystal Palace fans have every right to be furious with the display, although the supporters below are perhaps reading into Hodgson smiling a bit too much.
