Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to react after seeing ‘spine-tingling’ footage of manager Eddie Howe at St James’s Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Tyneside outfit finally have a Premier League victory under their belts this season after winning 1-0 against Burnley yesterday, following a fantastic winner from Callum Wilson.
Considering Newcastle were sitting absolutely bottom of the Premier League standings before a football was kicked on Saturday, this was an enormous victory for a multitude of genuine reasons.
In addition to leapfrogging Norwich City – who, importantly, have a match in hand away at Tottenham Hotspur in London this afternoon – the Magpies finally have a honest sense of unity again.
Relief tinged with euphoria for Howe
Newcastle posted footage of their 43-year-old manager’s reaction to the full-time whistle at St James’s Park.
The former Bournemouth man looked the picture of passion, delivering repeated fist bumps to a roaring sold-out capacity in the North-East arena.
It’s undeniably been a difficult season for Newcastle, who parted company with former manager Steve Bruce in October following a series of worrying, damaging results.
However, there is a sense from the Twitter footage that beating Burnley could potentially prove to be a watershed moment in their campaign, a turning point.
Here is how Newcastle supporters reacted to the video circulating on social media following the debut victory.
