Genoa star Antonelli: I dream of playing for Liverpool

Genoa captain Luca Antonelli has surprisingly declared that he would love to play for Liverpool.

Talented Italian left-back Luca Antonelli has admitted that he wants to pull on a Liverpool shirt one day.

The 27-year-old currently plays for Serie A club Genoa where he has made 58 appearances since signing from Parma in 2011.

Now club captain, Antonelli has become a key figure for the Grifone, but he has unexpectedly revealed his affection for Liverpool in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“My dream? I would like to play for Liverpool,” the Monza native declared.

“But I am still young and there will be time to talk about this again in the future.

“Genoa was my destiny and after a difficult start when I arrived four years ago I am happy that the fans like me and I am able to wear the captain’s armband.”

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool take any notice of this unusual flirtation, but for the time being it seems that Antonelli will be staying in Liguria.
