It’s been a rotten week for Arsenal, but at least one former player is shining.

The Gunners were thumped 3-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this week in a defeat which saw David Luiz post a very David Luiz-type performance – i.e a shocker – and Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka suffer serious injuries.

Yep, a terrible week for Arsenal so far, but the same doesn’t apply to one of the club’s old boys.

Cohen Bramall, sold by the North Londoners last summer during Unai Emery’s reign, fired Colchester United to a 1-0 playoff semi-final win over Exeter last night.

And what a peach of a strike it was, too.

Bramall, who spent two years at Arsenal, curled home a wonderful free kick from a ridiculous angle as United drew first blood in the semi-final tie.

Here’s how some Arsenal and neutral fans reacted to the goal on Twitter:

The 24-year-old never made a senior competitive appearance for Arsenal during his stint at the Emirates Stadium.
