West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic has been criticised by Ian Wright.
Pundit Ian Wright has told BBC Radio Five Live that he thinks Stoke City pulled off ‘unbelievable business’ to get £24million for Marko Arnautovic this past summer.
Arnautovic, 28, joined the Potters from Werder Bremen back in September 2013, having failed to really settle with Inter or Werder after breaking through at FC Twente.
The Austrian forward has often shown flashes of his quality over the course of his career, but his attitude and application have been brought into question on more than one occasion.
At Stoke, Arnautovic hit 26 goals in 145 games to become a key part of Mark Hughes’ side at the bet365 Stadium, but they decided to cash in over the summer.
As reported by Sky Sports, West Ham United struck an agreement over a £24million deal for Arnautovic, signing him on a five-year deal to boost Slaven Bilic’s attacking options.
However, Arnautovic looks like a major flop right now, as he has yet to contribute a goal or an assist in his six Premier League appearances for West Ham, whilst he was sent off against Southampton in West Ham’s second game of the season.
Arnautovic has been ripped apart for his performance against Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday evening, and now pundit Ian Wright has joined in the criticism of the forward.
Wright has told BBC Radio Five Live that he thinks Stoke pulled off ‘unbelievable business’ by selling Arnautovic to West Ham for £24million, calling the deal ‘genius’ on Stoke’s behalf whilst suggesting that West Ham will quickly realise their mistake.
“Genius to get £24million for Arnautovic, unbelievable business,” said Wright. “I think West Ham will find that out soon,” he added.
