Crystal Palace now seem likely to sign Naouirou Ahamada from VfB Stuttgart with Patrick Vieira impressed by his performances.

What’s the story?

Well, the south Londoners seem to be making progress in their pursuit of the 20-year-old sensation.

The Athletic believe Crystal Palace are in talks with VfB Stuttgart over a deal for Ahamada, after Vieira was left very impressed by his displays in the Bundesliga so far this season.

Now, the Daily Mail have added that the VfB Stuttgart No.32 is likely to accept an offer from the Eagles, given the fact the German side find themselves 16th in the Bundesliga.

Ahamada has made 16 appearances in the Bundesliga so far this season – scoring two goals from midfield – as he becomes an important player for VfB Stuttgart. Interestingly, all 16 of those appearances have come as starts.

By the sounds of it, the Frenchman is keen on a move to Selhurst Park, where he would be given the chance to work under one of the greatest players in his country’s history.

Crystal Palace are also light on midfield options to partner Cheick Doucoure, so Ahamada could easily start alongside the Mali international straight away if he completes a move to SE25.

Who is Crystal Palace target Naouirou Ahamada?

Ahamada is far from a household name, so many people are largely unaware of his talents.

If the Marseille-born playmaker does join Crystal Palace, fans should expect a composed figure in the middle of the park, once who has similar balance and guile to Eberechi Eze but a bit more defensive steel.

As WhoScored shows, Ahamada averages 1.1 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga and one tackle every 90 minutes, with an impressive pass success rate of 85.2% – he is a very well rounded player.

Of course, it would be asking a lot for the 20-year-old to immediately become a regular starter for Crystal Palace given his age, but having already become a vital cog for VfB Stuttgart, it certainly isn’t impossible.
