Jack Wilshere made headlines this week for claiming that he would never sign for Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international grew up at Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal and spent his whole career at the Emirates Stadium until 2018.

The 28-year-old midfielder is a free agent right now after being released by West Ham United during the summer following repeated injury problems.

But when asked on Sky Sports’ Super 6 podcast whether he’d ever consider a move to Tottenham, Wilshere said: “I don’t think I could do it. You know what as well, let’s be honest, they’re not going to have me.”

And here’s how fans of Jose Mourinho’s side reacted to Wilshere’s comments:

Just being a former Arsenal player is enough to ordinarily burn any bridges with respects to a possible move, but Wilshere sang a derogatory song about Tottenham during the Gunners’ FA Cup celebrations in 2015, resulting in a £40,000 fine.

Spurs fans will hardly have forgotten about that and therefore of course they aren’t going to be in favour.

And being honest, he wouldn’t get anywhere near Mourinho’s first XI, given that the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Tanguy Ndombele are impressing this season.
