The Championship club are currently searching for a new manager after the departure of Gary Caldwell.

Wigan Athletic could offer Ryan Giggs his first job in management according to a report in the Daily Mail, following the departure of Gary Caldwell.
The newspaper reports that the Latics are considering the Welshman among other candidates, but the appointment of Giggs depends on the transfer budget that will be made available to the new manager.

While Giggs is the biggest name on the shortlist, the Daily Mail claim Karl Robinson, who left MK Dons last week, is also being considered for the role. They also state that the new manager does not need any prior experience of managing in the Championship.
Giggs spent the last two seasons as assistant manager to Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United, after filling in as the interim boss shortly before the Dutchman’s arrival.

During his time at the helm of Old Trafford, Giggs oversaw four matches in which he won two, drew one and lost one.
Wigan are currently second from bottom in the Championship with 11 points in their first season back in the second tier of English football after achieving promotion during the last campaign, when they won the League One title under Caldwell.
