Potentially missing your star man for a period on the sideline would be the worst news for any side, but with every negative comes a positive – potentially in this case at least.
Since August 2014, the season which Harry Kane broke into the Tottenham Hotspur side, he has played 127 game.
Out of the current crop of Spurs players he has made the most consecutive starts in the league with 71, with Toby Alderweireld his nearest competitor on 43.
The England front man is averaging a game every six days with, the last league game Kane not starting being in November 2014, when he came on as a substitute at Aston Villa where he scored a last minute winner.

The stats above just tell you how influential Kane has been for Spurs since breaking into the side in late 2014. Bear in mind too that he has also featured for England in the past two summers for the Under-21’s and senior respectively.
Despite scoring in his past two league games it’s clearly evident that the striker is in need of a rest before he shows more sign of burnout.
It’s a long gruelling season especially with Champions League football, and no doubt Mauricio Pochettino has aspirations of going past the group stages as well as competing for a top four place.

If Kane is to be sidelined, it will open the door for summer signing Vincent Janssen to be given a run of games to lead the line, after only starting one game so far this term.
It could be what’s needed for him to announce himself at the club, as the Dutchman has failed to find the net so far. Goals breed confidence for any forward especially for the former AZ Alkmaar striker who scored 27 goals in 34 appearances last season.
The injury to the 23 year-old will also give a lot of the Tottenham supporters an indication as to where the club are without Kane. It’s the first time since Pochettino’s arrival that he could face time without him.
In the long run Tottenham will get a fit and fresher Harry Kane rather than a sluggish and lethargic one which we’ve seen for the majority of the start of this season, and in return another forward with a run of games ready to compete has a chance to step up and add more firepower for Maurcio Pochettino’s side.
