Joey Barton apologises after Rangers bust up, clarifies situation

Joey Barton has been sent home by manager Mark Warburton and told to stay away from the training ground after a training ground bust up, but has explained himself via Twitter.

STV reported that the midfielder was not present at the club’s Auchenhowie base on Thursday after ‘an incident’ took place during a training session on Tuesday. The Daily Record has called it ‘a blazing row with team mates and coaching staff’.

BBC Sport have reported that Barton altercation was with team-mate Andy Halliday with the bust-up taking place on Tuesday, the players told of Barton’s temporary ban on Thursday.

Barton is set to miss Rangers game on Saturday to Ross County and the incident is said to of happened days after their 5-1 drubbing in the Old Firm last week.

He took to Twitter this evening to apologise for the situation and explain his side of the story.

The former Burnley man moved to Rangers in the summer on a two year-deal however his switch sparked controversy after he said that Celtic captain Scott Brown wasn’t “in his league”.

Although his start to life in Glasgow has been a slow one and was quick to put his feelings on the defeat to their rivals on twitter saying “No excuses. Nowhere near good enough for our football club yesterday.”
