HITC Sport understands transfer is agreed and player is due for medical.

Leicester City have agreed with Sporting Lisbon for striker Islam Slimani, HITC Sport understands.

The 28-year-old has been chased by a host of clubs and Arsenal failed with a bid for him only last week as they refused to match Sporting’s €35million asking price.

Now Premier League champions have now made their move and have agreed to Sporting’s demands as they will pay just shy of £30million for the Algerian international.

The deal will be a new club record for The Foxes, who broke it earlier this summer when they paid CSKA Moscow £16million for Ahmed Musa.

HITC Sport understands that Slimani is now due in England for his medical before putting pen-to-paper on a long-term deal with Claudio Ranieri’s men.

Slimani has been with Sporting since 2013 and has and impressive record with 48 league goals in 82 games.
