Barcelona Sporting Director Mateu Alemany has told Sport that Gavi wants to stay, amid rumour linking the midfielder with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Alemany, who is on the radar of Liverpool and Everton among other clubs, has said that Gavi will put pen to paper on a new contact with Barcelona.
AS reported last week that Everton, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Gavi from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Gerard Romero claimed in March that Liverpool have offered Gavi a contract worth €6m-a-year (£5.13m-a-year).
Liverpool target Gavi wants Barcelona stay
Alemany told Sport, as translated by Football Espana: “Gavi wants to stay. We’ve been talking for a long time and the two parties have the same idea, that he will be a Barcelona player for many years.”

Disappointment
In our view, it is very likely that Gavi will sign a new contract with Barcelona and not move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The 17-year-old midfielder has come through the Barcelona youth academy, and head coach Xavi knows all about the importance of keeping La Masia graduates at the club.
After all, Xavi himself is a Barcelona youth academy graduate who went on to become one of the greatest midfielders of all time.
Pedri, Ansu Fati and Ronald Araujo all have signed new contracts with Barcelona, and we think that Gavi will put pen to paper on a fresh deal.
In our view Liverpool are set for disappointment in their quest to sign Gavi.
Meanwhile, CM have reported that AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas in the summer transfer window.
