Gary Teale has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is good enough to play for Manchester United.

According to The Scottish Sun, Premier League and European giants United are interested in signing McGinn from Villa in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Red Devils are ready to make a move for the Scotland international, but the Villans – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – want as much as £50 million.

Teale played with McGinn at Scottish side St. Mirren, and the former Scotland international winger believes that the 24-year-old is good enough to play for United.

Teale told The Scottish Sun about McGinn: “At first you’re surprised when you see £50 million and Manchester United.

“But then you take time to reflect and digest it and there’s nothing to say why he couldn’t go and do it.

“He’s thrived on every chance and there’s no reason to say why, if he got that opportunity at Manchester United, he wouldn’t thrive in that atmosphere.”

Teale added: “In the Premier League nowadays figures like £50 million are banded about as if it’s nothing.

“You ask yourself if John is worth that and initially you think no. But the market dictates things there and if it comes along then great.

“He’s a great lad, he’s wholehearted and he gives everything in every training session and every game so he deserves anything he gets.”

Good signing for Manchester United?

McGinn played well for Villa last season and was an instrumental player in the Villans’ success in the Championship last season.

The 24-year-old is a very talented player, and the former St. Mirren and Hibernian star has what it takes to be a success at United.
