The Tottenham Hotspur star faced Liverpool on Sunday.

Gary Stevens has told Stadium Astro that Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen would be ideal for Liverpool.

Tottenham lost 2-1 at Liverpool on Sunday to ensure that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have picked up just one point from the last 15 on offer.

Much has been made over the Reds’ creativity problems this season, with Jurgen Klopp missing a Philippe Coutinho-like spark from midfield.

Naby Keita was supposed to provide it, but the Guinea international has struggled in a major way since moving to Anfield last summer.

Eriksen, contracted to Tottenham until 2020, has been linked with a move away from North London as Spurs struggle to sign him up to a new deal.

And club legend Stevens reckons that the Denmark international is exactly what Klopp is looking for at Anfield.

He told Stadium Astro: “I think Liverpool need to sign a player that will get into any side. I think Christian Eriksen would be brilliant for Liverpool.

“He creates things, he makes things happen, gets on the ball and scores goals. And if you look at his stats, he covers the yards.”

Tottenham are bound to receive enquiries about the former Ajax midfielder this summer. It seems inevitable.

His form has certainly nosedived for a lot of 2019 so far, but he’s a fantastic footballer and one who Pochettino will do well to keep beyond August, without a contract extension.
