Aston Villa legend Gary Shaw has warned his old side they cannot lose more than eight games this season, speaking to the Birmingham Mail.
The Villans are competing in the Championship this season after being relegated from the Premier League last year.
Their fans are expecting them to make an immediate return to the top flight, especially after they spent heavily in the summer transfer window.
However, it has been a less than perfect start for them in the division as they have picked up just six points from their first six games and currently sit 17th in the table.

They have already lost two of those games and Shaw has warned that eight is the limit if they wish to have a successful season.
“You can’t afford to lose more than eight games or so if you want to succeed in the Championship,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“It’s still early days, of course, and the new manager knows the Championship, having got West Brom promoted to the Premier League. He won the Champions League with Chelsea, too, but that’s a different world to where we are now!”

It remains to be seen if Villa can turn around their poor early season form and be a force in the Championship this season.
They certainly have the components for success after their spending in the transfer window, with them boasting arguably one of the better strike forces in the division.
So far those parts have not combined into a coherent, winning whole though and the pressure is on Roberto di Matteo to change that as soon as possible.
