Derby County are expected to be active in the summer transfer window.
Derby County boss Gary Rowett has told the Derby Telegraph that he wants to play a hands on role with transfers at Pride Park.
Rowett is expected to make several alterations to Derby’s squad in the coming months, as he prepares for next season.
And the former Birmingham and Burton boss insists that all players that are brought to Derby will be his own targets.
“It always has been hands-on for me during the summer and I don’t see it being any different this time around,” Rowett said.
“I have always watched the players as well and have never signed someone that I haven’t watched extensively myself or not got good background research on.
“For the last five years, we have sourced our targets through the scouting network and also our own network, which is important.
“The bulk of it is done by myself, so I know what we’re getting in to. It means more work for me but I won’t be sat on a beach twiddling my thumbs. I’ll be by the pool as I will have a holiday – but with my phone strapped to my ear!”
Rowett’s Derby side are likely to have funds to spend in the summer, after what has been a disappointing campaign.
The Rams were expected to challenge for promotion this season, but they have fallen well short of their objective.
Derby have never threatened to make a push for the play offs, and are now destined to finish in mid-table.
Rowett’s side are currently in 10th place in the Championship standings, with just two games to go.
Derby are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
