Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town have both been linked with Derby County’s Gary Rowett.
Gary Rowett has offered his strongest hint yet that Tom Ince will be leaving Derby County this summer, on the club’s official website.
Ince was one of Derby’s most consistent performers last season, with the attacking midfielder contributing 14 goals and eight assists.
However, Rowett has suggested that Derby’s squad is now top heavy, and he could look to offload some of his creative players.
“If you look at our group at the moment, we have four or five players at the moment that could play as a number 10 and that’s not healthy for any squad; it doesn’t help you build a real good team-spirit and camaraderie,” Rowett said.
“With that, I think there is always the option to let one or two players go out, even if they are good players to give the rest of the squad more of an opportunity.”
Derby know that Ince is one of their most valuable players, and his departure could make room for new additions.
Derby have previously fought hard to keep hold of Ince, but could now feel that the time is right to cash in.
Ince has been heavily linked with both Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town in recent times (The Sun).
Newcastle and Huddersfield apparently feel that the former Blackpool man could be a threat at Premier League level.
