Derby County suffered a damaging defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Monday night.
Gary Rowett has been left unimpressed with Derby County ace Jayden Bogle for the manner in which he defended during his side’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday night.
Yohan Benalouane scored the only goal of the game inside the first few minutes, with Bogle’s attempted header following a set-piece situation, falling into the path of the Forest players, with Benalouane eventually scrambling home.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football’s live coverage of Forest v Derby (25/02/2019 at 09:55 pm), Rowett explained why Bogle was at fault for the goal.
“Well, I think if you look at Jadon Bogle’s body position and then secondly his decision to head the ball back into an area that kept the ball alive for Forest to get something out of,” Rowett told Sky Sports Football.
“He’s got to really open himself up a little bit earlier and head the ball maybe for a corner or out the other side that gives you that rest bite to defend again.”
The 18-year-old has been a roaring success for Frank Lampard this season after he introduced the highly-rated youngster into his set-up following his appointment.
Bogle didn’t feature under Rowett last season, but since Lampard replaced him in the dugout, he has introduced a lot of young talent, including right-back Bogle.
Over the course of the season, he has played 34 matches in all competitions for the club, supplying three assists for his teammates [transfermarkt].
Nonetheless, that defeat at the Forest Ground leaves Derby seventh in the Championship table, two points behind sixth-placed Bristol City, who have played a game less.
Lampard’s side will now prepare for a trip to Aston Villa at the weekend where he is set to come up against former Chelsea teammate, John Terry, who is on the coaching staff of the Midlands club.
