England beat Germany 2-0 on Tuesday evening, securing a spot in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 – and Jordan Pickford excelled again.

Gareth Southgate’s men took the lead through Raheem Sterling before Harry Kane wrapped up a memorable win at Wembley.

The goalscorers will get the praise, but there were a number of players who can lay claim to being Man of the Match.

Pickford impresses again

Everton goalkeeper Pickford came into the tournament under some pressure given that many wanted him dropped after a mixed season.

So far though, it’s four games played and four clean sheets racked up for Pickford, with England boasting a remarkable defensive record so far.

Pickford didn’t have lots to do against Germany, but did pull off a superb save to deny Kai Havertz at 0-0, and a smart save from Timo Werner in the first half.

He was decisive on crosses and excellent with his distribution, leading to huge praise for him once again.

Gary Neville raves about Pickford

Pundit and former England coach Gary Neville has taken to Twitter to suggest that Pickford was his Man of the Match.

Neville admitted that he has been critical of Pickford in recent times, but he is simply ‘a different player’ with England.

Everton will hope to see more of that from Pickford next season as he again enjoys a fine summer with the Three Lions.
