Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min has been hailed as a truly ‘world class’ player by pundit Gary Neville after terrorising Newcastle United.

Tottenham finally ended their winless run, beating Newcastle United 4-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs had gone five games without a victory but Ange Postecoglou saw his side snap the difficult run.

Son Heung-min was a menace for Tottenham throughout and he has received from deserved praise from Gary Neville.

Son set up Tottenham’s opener, driving to the byline to set up Destiny Udogie from close range.

It was a similar story for Tottenham’s second goal with Son beating Kieran Trippier along the byline, allowing Richarlison to tap home.

Son then wrapped up the win, scoring from the penalty spot to put Tottenham 4-0 up before a Newcastle consolation.

The South Korean has ben outstanding as Tottenham’s striker this season but he operated in a more familiar role on Sunday.

Son started on the left flank with Richarlison through the middle, causing Newcastle no end of problems.

Pundit Gary Neville hailed Son whilst on punditry duty for Sky Sports (10/12, 5:10pm).

Neville suggested that whilst Trippier is an impressive defender, he made a ‘real mess’ of Tottenham’s second goal, failing to clear Pedro Porro’s cross-field ball.

Neville then noted that Son is ‘brilliant’ and Trippier just couldn’t handle such a ‘world class’ player.

“Kieran Trippier, I couldn’t speak highly of him from a defensive perspective, he makes a real mess of that header, gets under it, and it ends up with Son,” said Neville. “He’s brilliant, Son, he’s been fantastic in this first half on that left hand side.”

“You don’t expect Trippier to get beat here, but he’s up against world class in Son,” he added.

The way Son has stepped up this season has been incredible to watch.

Tottenham sold Harry Kane in August, not only losing their main source of goals but also a real team leader.

Add in that Hugo Lloris has been phased out and Tottenham needed to find a new leader – and Son has stepped up as captain and star attacker.

10 goals in 16 Premier League games sums up Son’s excellence this season and we are expecting to see more brilliance from him in the coming weeks and months.
