Gary Neville claimed on commentary that Dejan Lovren didn’t know how to handle Tottenham striker Harry Kane during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Spurs at Anfield.

Kane opened the scoring inside the first minute for his side when Heung-Min Son’s deflected shot hit the post and bounced into the path of Kane who headed home.

Whilst Liverpool did go on to clinch all three points, Kane was trying his utmost best to cause problems on the day, including making his typical runs in the channels to try and make something happen.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (27/10/19) during commentary in the second half, Neville felt that Lovren coming up against Kane is a bit of a ‘mental block’ for the Croatian, who was in Kane’s ‘pocket’.

“He wants Lovren does Harry Kane, he fancies him,” Neville told Sky Sports. “Put him in his pocket. It’s almost a mental block for Dejan Lovren [in coming up against] Harry Kane. He doesn’t know how to handle him.

Carragher added: “That’s always been his problem. He can’t help getting involved with people and challenging.”

In the end, it was Liverpool who walked away with all three points, as they dominated possession and Spurs tried now and again to pick them off on the counter.

Whilst they looked dangerous with the likes of Son on the break, they weren’t able to add to their lead, as they left Anfield empty-handed.
