Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will be chasing Alan Shearer and his goal record.

Pundit Gary Neville has told Sky Sports (24/08/2019, 8:20 pm) that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has a real chance to beat Alan Shearer’s goal record.
Spurs take on Newcastle United at home this afternoon, and they will be looking for Kane to be in the goals yet again to help them claim all three points.
Kane has already started his goal trail this season, scoring twice to beat Aston Villa on the opening day of the season after a stop-start campaign last term.
The 26-year-old only managed 28 Premier League appearances last season, scoring 17 times, meaning his run of seasons with more than 20 goals ended at four in a row.
Kane is now onto 127 Premier League goals in just 183 games, and he’s looking like the only player who currently has a shot at beating Shearer’s record of 260.
Sergio Aguero is 94 away but is already 31, and no other Premier League players even have 100 goals, leaving Kane as the main contender.
Now, Neville has praised Kane for his high performance levels and feels that the Tottenham star is the only one who can get close to Shearer, noting just how high that praise truly is.

Neville added that Spurs simply can’t afford to let Kane go, feeling that he’s as important to the success of the club as boss Mauricio Pochettino, urging Spurs to fight hard to keep both for years to come.
“His performances are at such a high standard,” said Neville. “We played regularly with England with Alan Shearer, over a 10-15 year career, and you look at Shearer’s goal record in the Premier League and think nobody will get near it. If there is going to be a striker that’s going to get near it, it’s going to be Harry Kane – and that’s huge praise.”
“Tottenham can’t let him go, they can’t let him go. He’s as important as the manager, those two characters…if they can stay at Tottenham for the next few years, obviously it will be hugely important for the club,” he added.
