Tottenham Hotspur once again showed how the balance of power has shifted in North London by beating Arsenal 2-0 on Sunday.

Spurs beat Arsenal at the end of last season following lockdown, and made it two wins in a row over their rivals with another won yesterday.

It was classic Jose Mourinho; Spurs were solid and resolute, hitting Arsenal with two counter-attacks as Son Heung-min fired home Harry Kane’s pass with a stunning long-range finish.

Son returned the favour by setting up Kane for number two before half time, with Arsenal woefully exposed at the back before failing to find the net once again.

Arsenal were disappointing throughout, and may well feel that they could have handled the first goal slightly better.

Kane was allowed to pick up the ball and turn on halfway before finding Son, with Arsenal failing to get tight enough to the England striker despite him supplying Son from deep so many times this season.

Gary Neville certainly wasn’t impressed with the defending, picking out two summer signings – Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey – for criticism during the Sky Sports coverage of the game (15mins).

Neville felt that both players were too far away from Kane when he receives the ball, suggesting that they should have been tight and going in harder on Kane to stop him from turning and finding Son as he so often does.

“Who is it that can pick up Harry Kane, who’s got Harry Kane? Gabriel, you can’t let him have that yard there,” said Neville. “And then Partey, they’ve got to be quicker to him, two yards off him is too far away,” he added.
