Manchester United legend Gary Neville said on the Monday Night Football show on Sky Sports Premier League on Monday evening (7:07pm, December 10, 2018) that Everton can catch Tottenham Hotspur in the coming years.

The former United defender does not expect Everton to challenge Tottenham for a top-six spot right away, but the Englishman thinks that in the coming years, Spurs will face genuine challenge from the Toffees.

Neville said on the Monday Night Football show on Sky Sports Premier League on Monday evening (7:07pm, December 10, 2018): “I think if Tottenham were to lose two or three players and Everton were to still do what they are doing now, you could see that transfer of positions between them. But I think they are the only one I can see that are in their sights in the long run.”

Challenge

Tottenham have been superb over the past four or so seasons, and the North London outfit are going strong in the Premier League at the moment despite not making any signings in the summer transfer window.

Everton have invested strongly in their squad in recent years, signing the likes of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Toffees, though, are still not good enough to be in the top six of the Premier League.

If Tottenham manage to keep hold of their best players and make some good signings in the next one or two years, then they should be able to be ahead of Everton even if the Toffees bring in more players to Goodison Park.
