Gary Neville suggests Sean Dyche shouldn’t take the Everton job… just yet

Everton are said to be set to approach Burnley manager Sean Dyche in the next 24 hours.

Gary Neville has suggested to Sky Sports, on Monday Night Football, that Sean Dyche should see the job through at Burnley, rather than taking charge at Everton now.

Dyche is among the leading contenders to take charge at Everton, with Sky Sports suggesting that he will be offered the job within the next 24 hours.

But Neville is less than convinced that Dyche should rush to take charge at Goodison Park, and has claimed the move would make more sense at the end of the season.

He said: “It would be a heart wrenching decision. I know Jamie [Carragher] said he has to take it, but I’m not as fixed as that. Seeing it through, in some ways, would probably mean giving the club until the end of the season.

“They’ve looked after him. He’s looked after them. Maybe I’m being a bit pure.”

Carragher has suggested earlier in the night that if Dyche is offered the Everton job, he simply has to take it.

Everton are looking for a new boss following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman.

The Toffees have made a woeful start to the campaign, and currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League table.

At the moment David Unsworth is in temporary charge, but the caretaker boss has lost his first two matches in charge.

Everton are next in action on Thursday night against Lyon, which means the Toffees would have to act quickly to have Dyche in charge for that contest.
