Gary Neville has revealed that he secretly fancies Liverpool to win the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Brighton 1-0 on Saturday to estbalish a seven-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.

The Sky Blues can reduce that deficit to four points tonight if they beat Wolves at the Etihad.

It seems like it finally might be Liverpool’s season and the win at Brighton was a huge test of their title credentials.

Virgil van Dijk was the Reds’ only fit and recognised centre-back, prompting Klopp to use Brazilian midfielder Fabinho as a makeshift defender.

But the Anfield club came through it unscathed nonetheless, and Neville admits to Sky Sports that he’s been talking up their chances to club legend Jamie Carragher when the cameras haven’t been rolling.

“I said City publicly at the start of the season and I have said City always on Monday Night Football when I have been asked,” he told Sky Sports.

“But privately in the green room with Jamie Carragher I have been saying, ‘Your lot can win this, they are capable of winning it, they look like a team that can do it.'”

Liverpool haven’t reigned supreme in England’s top flight since 1990 and Klopp would instantly earn legendary status if he were to end that long and painful wait come May.

Their next four games are Crystal Palace [H], Leicester [H], West Ham [A] and Bournemouth [H].

That could easily represent another 12 points, even though it rarely turns out to be this simple, but winning three out of those four would go a long way to helping the German manager do it.
