Gary Neville has told Sky Sports that he feels Everton have done very well to sign Andre Gomes.

Neville managed Gomes at Valencia, during his brief and unsuccessful period with the Spanish club.

The pundit claims that Gomes was one of Valencia’s standout players during his time at the Mestella.

And Neville believes that Gomes will turn into an excellent addition for Everton this season.

He said: “He’s a brilliant player. There were a few players when I was there. Cancelo, Gaya and Gomes. They were standout players.

“He’s got good energy from box to box, he can beat a man with the ball at his feet, he can arrive late. He’s a good player, they’ve done well to get him.”

Gomes made a slow start at Everton due to injury, but he has started to prove his worth more recently.

The Portuguese international is now fully fit and he has started in Everton’s last two games.

Gomes has impressed, even though the Toffees were unable to pick up the three points against Manchester United yesterday.

Everton had their chances to win at Old Trafford, but ultimately fell to a 2-1 defeat, in unfortunate circumstances.
