Tottenham Hotspur are expected to invest in their first-team squad this summer.

Gary Neville has told his self-titled podcast, which is broadcasted by Sky Sports, that Tottenham Hotspur should target a winger in the summer transfer window.

Spurs are expected to invest in their first team squad over the coming months, but there is no obvious weakness in their current starting line-up.

While Spurs lack the depth of some of their title challenging rivals, Mauricio Pochettino’s first XI is a match for any team’s in the division.

And Neville believes that all that could be required to push Spurs on to the next level is a top quality winger.

“You could argue a wide player is something that would be very beneficial to Tottenham,” the Manchester United legend said.

“A star wide player. In centre-forward position, they’ve are fantastic with Harry Kane. You’re talking back-up for him.

“Defensively they are good. You’re just talking back-up players. The goalkeeper is very good. The overall quality good but a wide left or a wide right.”

Neville’s comments suggest that he may believe Wilfried Zaha would be an excellent addition for Spurs.

Crystal Palace’s Zaha has been linked with a move to Tottenham for some time, with Mauricio Pochettino said to be a big admirer.

Spurs would have to pay around £40 million if they were to sign the Ivory Coast international this summer (Daily Mail).
