Are Liverpool beginning to feel the pressure in the title race?
Gary Neville shared how he’s noticed that Liverpool have looked more vulnerable defensively in recent weeks, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports.
The Reds lost their lead at the top of the Premier League table on Wednesday night, after Manchester City’s win away at Everton, although they do have a game in hand on Pep Guardiola’s side.
Liverpool have been mightily impressive this season, but there have been signs over the past few games that the players are beginning to feel the inevitable pressure that comes with a title race.
And Neville believes he has spotted what has been the big difference for the Reds over the past few weeks.
The Manchester United legend told Sky Sports how Jürgen Klopp’s side seem to be more fragile defensively than they were earlier on in the campaign:
“When Liverpool have dropped points recently it is due to them not being quite as good as they were. Recently they’ve started to allow their opponents chances on goal, and then letting in avoidable goals – that was not the case for the majority of the campaign.”
Liverpool play host to Bournemouth tomorrow, and Klopp will be desperate for his side to get back on track with all three points, but the real tests are yet to come, none more so than Manchester United away in two weeks time.
And if the Merseyside outfit lose at Old Trafford, the pressure really will start to mount.
