Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville has been full of praise for Andy Robertson after his performance for Liverpool against Tottenham.
Robertson certainly made his mark on the match against Spurs, he scored a goal, assisted another and he was even sent off for good measure.
It’s very rare that you hear a player receiving immense praise after getting a red card, but Neville was simply blown away by Robertson’s contribution.
What’s been said about Robertson?
Neville was in awe of the full-back, despite his red card.
“These two, I don’t think I’ve seen two full-backs play in the Premier League that are as good as these two as a pair. The way they combine together, the way they play the game, they’re an absolute joy,” Neville said.
“Robertson with his consistency, he does everything well, he’s competitive, slightly too much at the end there, but he set up a goal and he scored a goal. I actually couldn’t think of anyone else who I’d rather give Man of the Match to.”

Brilliant
Just imagine how well you have to play to receive praise after getting sent off in a vitally important match?
Robertson may have lost his head at one point, but the praise he’s receiving from Neville here is absolutely deserved.
Yes, he was red-carded, but during his time on the pitch, he was absolutely untouchable.
With a bit more luck, he’d have had a brace after his header went inches wide in the opening minutes against Spurs, and his all-around showing was simply brilliant.
