Gary Neville has admitted that he has changed his mind about Tottenham Hotspur’s Jose Mourinho now, on his self-titled podcast.

Tottenham beat Manchester City at the weekend, as they climbed to the top of the Premier League table.

Spurs caught the eye with their display, as they sat back and dealt with any attacking threat that City threw at them.

Every single one of Tottenham’s players seemed to buy into Mourinho’s game-plan.

And Neville admits that he has gone from believing Mourinho may struggle at Spurs, to thinking that they have a real chance under him now.

“Jose Mourinho will be proud. For a period under Mourinho it almost felt like Spurs didn’t have an identity,” he said.

“They looked like a team that had a really good style under Pochettino into a style that was different and that wasn’t being taken on board by the players.

“I thought it was a case that ‘they’re not having this’. I watch Harry Kane’s body language in the early Mourinho era and thought I’m not sure this is going to work.

“But I have to say I’m changing my mind dramatically because I’m now watching a really brilliant Harry Kane who is playing differently and Mourinho is getting the most out of him, in a different position, he’s adding more to his game, and the team look really up for the challenge.”

Kane has indeed been absolutely brilliant this season and his display against City was nothing short of magnificent.

Kane may not have gone on the scoresheet, but he caused the City defence no end of problems and he managed to set up Giovani Lo Celso, who scored Tottenham’s second.

Optimism at Spurs is now rising significantly, with their supporters really starting to believe that a title challenge could be a genuine possibility.
