Gary Neville spoke exclusively to Sky Sports about the future of Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, and suggested that Daniel Levy will be ‘hanging on to him for dear life’, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing up the Argentine.

Pochettino has worked wonders at Spurs since taking over as manager of the club back in the summer of 2014, but unfortunately for the north London outfit, his fine work has not gone unnoticed.

The Argentine failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, and it must be incredibly frustrating for him that his hands seemed to be tied behind his back with regards to transfers, what with the spiralling costs of Tottenham’s new stadium ensuring that the purse strings have been well and truly tightened.

And Neville told Sky Sports just how important Pochettino is to Spurs, and their chances of achieving success in the future:

Assistant Manager Gary Neville looks on during an England training session at St Georges Park on May 30, 2016 in Burton on Trent, England.

“I think there is no doubt Mauricio Pochettino will be sought after by many clubs because he is just a fantastic coach. The way the game is going now, the ability to get the best out of players, he wins them over, has a great work ethic and there is absolutely no doubt the next step for him is to go on to the giants of European football. Tottenham are a huge club, but when you talk about Real Madrid and clubs like that you are talking about another level. There will always be that risk for Tottenham, Daniel Levy will be hanging on to him for dear life I’m sure, to be the key in ensuring Tottenham stay consistent.”

Much will obviously depend on whether Tottenham are able to win a trophy over the course of the next six months, but if their wait for major honours goes on past the end of this season, it would be no surprise to see Poch jump ship before the start of next term.
