Gary Neville has raved about Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson on Sky Sports.
The former Manchester United star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Robertson is “an unbelievable player”.
Neville has added that Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold should look at the 26-year-old Scotland international left-back and try to be like him in terms of being consistent and defensively strong.
The Englishman told Sky Sports: “Robertson is an unbelievable player. To do what he’s done for the past three years up and down the line at the intensity he plays at. He’s quality and so consistent. Trent Alexander-Arnold mesmerises me with the things he does – I never thought a full-back could do those things.
“But if he wants to look anywhere at who to become in the next five years, it’s the left-back that he’s playing with. He needs to get defensively as good as him, as consistent as him, and to be intense as him in every game.”
Bargain signing for Liverpool
Robertson has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2017 when he joined from Hull City for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £8 million.
The 26-year-old has proved to be a bargain signing for the Reds. The left-back has played a big role in the Merseyside club winning the Premier League title and the Champions League over the past two seasons.
Robertson is still two or three years away from reaching his peak, and Liverpool fans will hope that he continues to maintain his high standards.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment and have also progressed to the knockout rounds of the Champions League this season.
