Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has fired back at Gary Neville after his segment on Monday Night Football earlier this week.
Klopp made headlines last weekend when he challenged BT Sport interviewer Des Kelly on the Reds’ hectic schedule.
That was a 12.45pm kickoff for Liverpool – who drew 1-1 at Brighton – and it’s fair to say that the German manager is frustrated by how Premier League games are organised.
Neville claimed on Sky Sports five days ago that Liverpool’s schedule is no more congested than when compared with previous reasons – and used a graphic to illustrate his point.
Here’s what Klopp told a pre-match press conference this afternoon: “Gary Neville said something, but it is not about Liverpool. He should not think that I am like him. I am not like him. I speak about all players, not only Liverpool players.”
Liverpool, who played in the Champions League on Tuesday, have a Sunday night clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers to look forward to.
The extended break should, in theory, have given the Reds a bit more rest and recuperation ahead of the visit of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
But whatever the result, you feel this debate is going to run and run.
