Gary Neville has told Stadium Astro that he felt that Leeds United fans were even more hostile than Liverpool’s when he was a Premier League player.
When Neville was at Manchester United, they were regularly competing against Leeds.
The two sides are set to renew acquaintances in the league for the first time in 16 years in the upcoming campaign.
And although Neville says he was treated more harshly by Liverpool fans, he felt that Elland Road had a more hostile atmosphere in general.
“I got treated worse at Anfield, but there was more hostility at Leeds,” Neville said, when asked which stadium was worse to play at.

Liverpool and Leeds will actually meet each other in their first game of the season on September 12th.
The match should provide a good barometer to see how well placed Leeds are to trouble teams in the top flight.
Leeds will, of course, travel to Anfield more in hope than expectation, but if they can compete then it should give them confidence that they will be able to pull off a few surprises now they are back in the top flight.
