Leeds United and Manchester United were big rivals during Gary Neville’s time as a player.
Gary Neville has insisted that he doesn’t dislike Leeds United in an interview for Super 6.
The former Manchester United man played at a time when Leeds’ rivalry with the Red Devils was at its peak.
The pair were playing each other every year in the Premier League.
And Neville suggests that he always felt that Leeds supporters were the most hostile towards Manchester United as a club.
However, he insists that because Leeds rarely competed with his side for honours that he never disliked them.
He said: “It’s difficult to dislike a club who you haven’t been competing with for 20 years. It was like City when we were playing at United when we were younger. You didn’t really dislike them that much. They weren’t even going to be challenging you. It was like that with Leeds.
“There was a point when they were really successful and were almost winning leagues when it got really heated, particularly when Eric [Cantona] left them.
“I always say that Liverpool is the biggest rivalry we have, but the most hostility is from Leeds.”
Leeds will be hoping to renew acquaintances with Manchester United next season.
The Whites are set to compete in the Championship play offs, as they aim to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
