Gary Neville has stated that he would rather Manchester City win the Champions League over Liverpool, as he posted on Instagram.
The former Manchester United defender shared that he still wants his old side to be ‘the most successful club’ of all time, that’s why he would pick the neighbours.
When it comes to European honours, Man City haven’t won the Champions League or the European Cup in old money in their history.
Whilst Liverpool are the most successful English and British club in that regard with six trophies to their name – three more than Man United.
Nonetheless, this is how the conversation unfolded between both Carragher and Neville regarding the Champions League.
“Would you rather Man City or Liverpool won the Champions League?” asked Carragher.
“The reason I say that is because Liverpool have, of course, won it. But Man City have never won it. Is that something Man United like to have over Man City?”
Neville responded: “I wouldn’t want Liverpool to win another Champions League.”
JC: “You would prefer Man City to win one and have that thing of ‘they have won the Champions League’.”
GN: “Probably, yeh I would. Ultimately, for Man United, it’s more about trying to get to that point of being the most successful club.”

Both Liverpool and Man City have put their names into the next round of the Champions League after seeing off Inter Milan and Sporting Lisbon, respectively.
Of course, there is that chance that they can now meet one another, which would be seriously tasty.
There is also Manchester United and Chelsea still in the competition, but they still have their second-leg matches to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Either way, the English sides will, once again, be hoping to dominate Europe and take the crown home.
